  • 2 cups basmati rice
  • 2 large onions, finely sliced
  • 4 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1 cup plain yoghurt
  • 4 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons ginger-garlic paste
  • 2 teaspoons Afghani spice blend 
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  • Salt, as needed
  • Fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
  • Fresh mint leaves, chopped
  • Saffron strands, soaked in warm milk

Cooking Instructions

Combine 1 tablespoon ground cumin, 1 tablespoon ground coriander, 1 teaspoon red chilli powder, and a pinch of salt in a bowl. Mix well to create your homemade Afghani spice blend.
