Instructions

1.
Prep the Fillets
Start by giving your tilapia fillet a quick rinse under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel. Dry fish = crispy fish, so don’t skip this step!

2.
Mix the Dry Ingredients
In a shallow dish, combine the flour, cornmeal, garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Give it a good stir until everything is well mixed. This is your golden crust waiting to happen.

3.
Prep the Wet Ingredients
In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk. This is going to help the coating stick to the fish like a charm.

4.
Coat the Fish
Dip each tilapia fillet into the egg mixture, making sure it’s fully covered. Then, dredge it in the flour mixture. Press the fillet down into the dry mix to get a nice, even coat. Shake off any excess. Repeat with all fillets.

5.
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat about a half-inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. To check if the oil is ready, drop a tiny bit of the flour mixture into the oil. If it sizzles and starts to brown, you’re good to go.

6.
Fry the Fillets
Carefully place the coated tilapia fillet into the hot oil. Fry them in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Cook each side for about 3-4 minutes or until they’re golden brown and crispy. Remember, we’re going for a perfect fish fry tilapia experience here!

7.
Drain and Serve
Once fried, place the fillets on a paper towel-lined plate to drain any excess oil. Serve your crispy tilapia with a squeeze of lemon and watch it disappear faster than you can say “tilapia fry”
