Sizzlingly Good: How To Ace Apollo Fish Fry

Welcome to your new favourite culinary adventure! Today, we’re diving into the irresistible world of Apollo Fish, a dish that promises to be the highlight of your table. This mouth-watering, spicy, and tangy dish is a staple in Hyderabadi cuisine, perfect as a starter to impress your guests or just to treat yourself on a cozy night in.

Ingredients To Cook Apollo Fish Fry

Before we get into the nitty-gritty, let’s make sure we have everything we need for this culinary journey. Gather up:

  • 250gms FreshToHome Fish Fillets (Basa or Red Snapper)
  • Oil as required
  • 2 tbsp Cornflour
  • 1 tbsp Plain Flour
  • 1 tsp Red Chilli Powder
  • 1 tsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • ¼ tsp Turmeric
  • Juice of 1 Lemon
  • 1 Egg White
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 sprig Curry Leaves
  • 1½ tbsp Ginger, finely chopped
  • 1½ tbsp Garlic, finely chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies
  • 2 Onions, finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp Oil

Method

Prepare the Fish Fillets

1.
Clean and Marinate Fish
Start by giving those fish fillets a good rinse. Then, pat them dry and rub them lovingly with lemon juice and a pinch of salt. Set them aside for about 5 minutes – just enough time for a quick dance break or a sip of your favorite drink.

2.
Marinate with Spices
Now, let’s get those flavours working. Add ginger garlic paste, red chilli powder, turmeric, and egg white to the fish. Mix it up like you’re making the world’s tastiest mud pie. Pop this spicy fish fiesta into the fridge for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours if you’re patient. (Patience is a virtue, but hunger waits for no one.)

Coat and Fry Fish

1.
Coat with Flour
Sprinkle corn flour and plain flour over the marinated fish. Coat them evenly, ensuring each piece looks like it’s ready for a walk down the runway – or a dive into hot oil, which is basically the same thing in the culinary world.

2.
Deep Fry Fish
Heat oil in a deep pan until it’s hot enough to make a fish’s dreams come true. Reduce to medium flame and carefully slide the fish pieces into the oil. Fry them until they’re golden brown and crispy, just like the perfect tan you’ve always wanted. Set them aside on some tissue paper to drain the excess oil.

Prepare the Flavour Base

1.
Sauté Curry Leaves
In another pan, heat 1 tbsp of oil. Toss in the curry leaves and fry them until they’re crispy. Imagine they’re little green superheroes transforming under your culinary powers.

2.
Add Aromatics
Add the finely chopped ginger, garlic, and green chillies. Sauté until the raw smell disappears and your kitchen smells like a gourmet restaurant

3.
Fry Onions
Add the finely chopped onions to the pan and fry until they turn a light brown. We’re looking for that sweet spot between golden and brown – like the perfect Instagram filter for onions.

Combine and Serve

1.
Mix in Fried Fish
Add the deep-fried fish to the pan with the aromatic mix. Cook on high flame for about 3 minutes, stirring gently to coat the fish with all that deliciousness. Be careful not to break the fish – we want lovely pieces, not fishy mush.

2.
Garnish and Serve
Garnish with lemon wedges and serve hot. This dish makes a delightful starter that will leave your guests begging for the recipe (you can decide if you want to share the secret or keep them coming back for more).

Bon appétit!

And there you have it – your very own Apollo Fish Fry! This Apollo Fish starter is not just a dish; it’s a statement. A spicy, tangy, and utterly delicious statement that says, “Yes, I can cook, and yes, you’re going to love it.”

Now, go forth and conquer the kitchen with your new Apollo Fish dish
