Chapila / Khoira (খয়রা) / Indian river shad

Small bony fish that makes amazing curries and is a staple part of most fish curries in Eastern India. Good for fries as well especially when deep fried so that the bones are chewable. The Indian river shad, is a species of fish in the family Clupeidae, occurring in rivers of India and Bangladesh. Outside the rivers it also occurs in ponds, beels.
